Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce CEO Prabha Ramaswamy was honoured to represent Saskatchewan last week at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Hill Days. Over the course of three days, Ramaswamy participated in a variety of meetings and events with President of the Treasury Board Mona Fortier, Minister of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic Leblanc, Deputy Finance Minister Michael Sabia and several other members of parliament and key political staff from all political parties.
In addition, the four Western Canadian Provincial CEO’s that are members of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Western Executive Council joined several business CEOs for a 75-minute meeting on Parliament Hill with Prime Minster Justin Trudeau.
A variety of topics were covered over the hour of productive discussion, including infrastructure, labour shortages, regulatory uncertainty, agriculture and natural resources. As a major trading corridor, council members stressed the role Western Canada plays as a critical gateway to growing markets, including the Indo-Pacific region.
With the ability to meet the growing global demand for food, fuel, fertilizer and other natural resources, the Western Council believes Canada has both the responsibility and the opportunity to provide these ethically and sustainably produced resources to our allies around the world.
