Saskatchewan Chamber Leads Business and Government Delegation to Ottawa to Advance Shared Priorities on Trade, Investment, and Infrastructure
October 19, 2026
For Immediate Release – Monday, October 19, 2026
Ottawa, Ontario – Saskatchewan business and government leaders will be in Ottawa from Monday through Wednesday this week for three days of meetings with federal ministers, Members of Parliament, and senior government officials. Led by the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, the delegation will identify opportunities to work with the federal government on investment, market access, trade-enabling infrastructure, regulatory certainty, and defence procurement.
The 2026 Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Ottawa Delegation brings the province’s business community and government to the same federal tables at a time when Canada is making consequential decisions about trade diversification, major-project approvals, critical infrastructure, and economic security. The Honourable Warren Kaeding, Minister of Trade and Export Development, senior ministry officials, and executives from major employers in food, energy, mining, transportation, and manufacturing will participate.
The delegation will emphasize that Saskatchewan’s export industries and investment pipeline are national assets—and that federal policy choices will determine whether proposed projects move forward and strengthen Canada’s economic resilience. Delegates will bring practical proposals aimed at attracting private capital, expanding access to domestic and international markets, improving transportation capacity, and making federal approvals more predictable.
In its meetings, the delegation will ask federal decision-makers to address five priorities: a competitive and predictable investment environment; faster and more efficient project assessments and permitting; reliable access to Canadian and international markets; resilient transportation corridors and supply chains; and greater opportunities for Saskatchewan firms to participate in Canada’s defence industrial base.
Over the three-day visit, delegates will discuss how Saskatchewan’s export industries, major projects, and supply chains can contribute more directly to federal economic, trade, infrastructure, and defence objectives.
Quotes
“Ottawa is making important decisions about infrastructure, defence procurement, project approvals, and Canada’s trade strategy, and Saskatchewan businesses need to be part of those decisions. Our delegation is bringing federal leaders practical proposals from companies prepared to invest in food, energy, critical minerals, manufacturing, defence, and trade. We look forward to working with federal leaders to create the investment certainty needed to turn that capacity into greater economic resilience for Canada.”
– Prabha Ramaswamy, CEO of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce
“Saskatchewan has built a reputation for being essential for global food and energy security, and a source of stability that our partners can rely on. That reputation reflects the strength of our business community and the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.
