Ya’thi Néné Lands and Resources (YNLR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting, managing, and advocating for the sustainable use of lands and resources within the Athabasca Basin of Northern Saskatchewan. Owned by the seven communities of the region, including Black Lake Denesułiné First Nation, Fond du Lac Denesułiné First Nation, Hatchet Lake Denesułiné First Nation, Stony Rapids, Uranium City, Wollaston Lake Post, and Camsell Portage, YNLR actively collaborates with industry, government, and community partners to ensure environmental stewardship, cultural preservation, and economic development align with traditional values and practices. Our organization supports initiatives such as environmental monitoring, community consultation, and the promotion of traditional land use to safeguard the interests of the region’s residents and the land they call home.
In addition to resource stewardship, YNLR plays a pivotal role in fostering economic growth and capacity building for the Athabasca communities. Through partnerships with industry leaders, scholarship programs, and training initiatives, YNLR empowers local residents to seize opportunities in sectors such as mining, trades, and environmental services. Our organization is committed to creating a sustainable future by balancing economic development with environmental and cultural integrity, ensuring that the voices of the Athabasca region are heard and respected in all decisions impacting the land and its people.
