Chamber welcomes extension of China market access for Canadian canola meal, peas, lobster, and crab
Global Affairs Canada has announced that favourable market access in China for Canadian canola meal, peas, lobster, and crab has been extended to the end of 2028.
The Saskatchewan Chamber welcomes the extension. Saskatchewan is one of Canada’s leading producers and exporters of canola and pulses, and reliable access to international markets is critical to growth and competitiveness. Greater certainty supports producers and Saskatchewan’s growing value-added processing sector, helping attract investment and create jobs at home.
While the extension provides a longer planning horizon, it stops short of permanent market access. Durable, multi-year solutions remain essential so that producers, processors, and exporters can plan well beyond the next shipment.
The Chamber looks forward to working with governments to secure lasting market certainty for Canadian exporters.
