The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce supports the government’s commitment to growth, safety, and affordability outlined in today’s Speech from the Throne. These priorities are vital to building a resilient economy and strong communities across Saskatchewan.
The Chamber strongly supports the introduction of the Saskatchewan Internal Trade Promotion Act, which will reduce interprovincial barriers for goods, services, and labour mobility. This aligns with the Chambers of the Federation’s ‘An Agenda for Economic Growth and Stability, where we called on governments to advance a national internal trade framework. Reducing these barriers remains one of the most effective ways to drive productivity, investment, and economic growth’ to advance an internal trade framework.
At a time of global trade uncertainty, trade missions play a vital role in opening new markets and strengthening existing relationships. The Chamber supports the government’s 15 international trade missions planned for 2025. It also welcomes the renewed collaboration with the federal government to advance Saskatchewan’s economic priorities.
Energy remains a top priority for Saskatchewan, and the Chamber welcomes the recently announced Saskatchewan First Energy Security Strategy and Supply Plan and supports the province’s exploration of small modular reactor (SMR) technology. Stable, affordable, and predictable energy supply is critical to investment attraction and emissions progress.
While our province faces an uncertain year ahead, today’s Speech from the Throne, with an emphasis on community safety and addictions recovery, energy stability, and strengthened trade, offers a stable path forward.
The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce looks forward to our continued work with government and industry partners to turn these commitments into action, to build a Saskatchewan that is truly strong, safe, and secure.
