News Release: Don Kramer Named 2018 ABEX Community Leader of the Year

In recognition of his dedication to Saskatchewan communities, Don Kramer will be receiving the ABEX Community Leader of the Year award. The award recognizes an individual who has made a positive contribution to the community through volunteerism and philanthropy, the individual has taken a lead role in developing solutions to social challenges in Saskatchewan.

Don Kramer was President and CEO of Kramer Tractor Company Ltd. from 1978 until his death in August 2018. He will be remembered as a business and community leader whose wisdom and generosity continues to be felt across the province. 

With a strong sense of philanthropic duty, Don was a strong supporter of the many organizations he chaired or assisted but he never attempted to be visible in his charitable actions. United Way, Hospitals of Regina, St. Paul’s Hospital Junior Achievement, the Saskatchewan Science Centre, Marion Centre, American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR), Saskatchewan Roughriders, Campion College, Santa Maria Seniors Citizens Home, the YMCA, R.C.M.P, Kramer Home and the Donald and Claire Kramer Foundation are just some of the organizations he supported over many years.

He was also an avid supporter of the Regina Symphony, Globe Theatre, Saskatchewan Foundation for the Arts, Mackenzie Art Gallery, Juventus, Saskatchewan Craft Council, the Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatchewan Music Festival Association and others.

Don was a proud Canadian and every country he visited in his travels received an enthusiastic lecture on Saskatchewan, its resources, its people and its vast potential. Don had great pride and confidence in the future of his province and his belief that the people of Saskatchewan are its greatest resource is evident in the generosity he showed to his community.

His quiet generosity has uplifted communities and individuals across Saskatchewan and his legacy is sure to live on in the programs he supported," said Steve McLellan, CEO of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.
