ABEX Cornerstone finalists announced
The field has been set, and finalists from Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, Lloydminster, and Regina are in the race to be awarded the 2015 Community Cornerstone Award. Saskatoon Funeral Home, Econo Timber Mart, Hopkins Dining Parlour, Midwest Furniture & Appliances and Bushwakker Brewing Company (The Bushwakker Brewpub) have been selected as this year’s finalists.
The Community Cornerstone Award, part of the ABEX Awards, is sponsored by SaskEnergy. This award is presented to a small enterprise that not only has deep roots in its community, but also demonstrates great pride in and support for the local community,- as it serves as an unofficial ambassador.
The distinguishing feature of the Community Cornerstone Award is its ability to employ the power of social media. Voters are encouraged to visit the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce website (www.saskchamber.com) to view videos on each of the finalists, and vote daily for the business they feel is most deserving of the award. Voting will begin in mid-September and carry on through October, with the winner announced at the ABEX Awards ceremony October 24 at TCU Place in Saskatoon. The ABEX Awards is Saskatchewan’s longest-running and best-recognized business awards event.
“This is a tremendously exciting ABEX Award,” said Steve McLellan, CEO of the Sask Chamber. “Last year in its first year, there was a neck-and-neck race between the finalists, and Ted Matheson Men’s Wear of Prince Albert came out on top. Both the finalists and their local chambers engaged with their clients and communities, encouraging people to cast votes. By using social media and public voting, this award gives communities of all sizes the chance to showcase their community, and how a business can embody the spirit of its community.”
Tickets for the ABEX Awards are now available at www.saskchamber.com.
