Khurrum Awan

1st Vice Chair

Miller Thomson LLP

Khurrum is a first-generation immigrant who moved to Toronto in August 1999 as an undergraduate university student, and benefited from the educational and career training provided by the nation’s universities. In February 2010, two years after graduating law school, he and his partner Aisha moved to Regina looking for better career opportunities. He found that opportunity as lawyer with a leading Western Canadian law firm where he has practiced since in the commercial and public law areas. His wife found that opportunity as a pharmacist, currently serving the North Central community in Regina. Recently, Khurrum and Aisha were blessed with the arrival of their son Eesa.

Having planted familial roots in Saskatchewan, Khurrum wishes to advocate for the issues and policies which will ensure that Saskatchewan remains an economically, educationally and socially vibrant place which attracts and retains young professionals, entrepreneurs and families. As a law student and lawyer, he has acquired experience engaging with government, parliamentary committees and media around a variety of public policy issues. He is confident that his experience and background will allow him to bring a unique perspective to the Chamber’s Board of Directors, and to better serve and represent the interests of its diverse membership.
