Al-Katib’s Global Achievements Inspire Student Bursary Awards
Murad Al-Katib’s story, from launching a basement start-up to his multi-national global achievements and success, reads like a Richard Branson biography. Al-Katib’s personal belief in his vision, himself and his tenacity to follow his instincts and pursue his dreams are inspiring on many levels. For the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, the recent achievements of this local business man became the catalyst to create four bursaries for Saskatchewan students that emulate Al-Katib’s drive and desire to achieve excellence.
“Murad’s recent achievements are a tremendous testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and what it takes to be personally and financially successful in today’s world of business,” states Steve McLellan, CEO of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce. “The SCC saw this as an opportunity to recognize four Saskatchewan students that emulate Murad’s excellent character and passion for global outreach, innovation and success. These bursaries draw on Murad’s story to inspire others to dream big. He proves you can be anything you want to be and do it right here at home.”
The four students that will each receive a $1000 bursary are:
Olivia Arnal, Paul J. Hill School, University of Regina
Dolapo Fadare, Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan
Jonathan Ferrel, Saskatchewan Polytechnic
Irvin Montana, First Nations University of Canada
The Global Achievement Bursaries support the SCC’s commitment to youth education and training which includes advancing student achievement and maximizing potential.
Local companies and individuals that contributed financially to making these bursaries possible are: Clifton Associates Ltd, Economic Development Regina Inc, Finning Canada, Greystone Managed Investments Inc, Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce, Hillberg & Berk, McKercher LLP, Mo Bundon, Mosaic Canada, PIC Investment Group, Regina Chamber of Commerce, Scotiabank, Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership and Young’s Equipment Inc. The bursaries were handed out today at a luncheon held at the Hotel Saskatchewan, that brought together members of the local business community to honour Al-Katib’s success."
